Process Control Interfaces
First, there are interfaces to control the data acquisition and transfer. Second, there are interfaces to control a process based on the results derived from these data.
Most common computer interfaces:
- USB, very common, limited to about 5m cable length
- PCIexpress, exact timing possible, cables up to 10m possible
- Ethernet, long connections in process environment possible
There are also embedded control systems, which include processing capacity. In this case only an Ethernet connection for programming and monitoring is required.
